Qld: Toddler escapes injury in crash that injures five

An 18-month-old Gold Coast boy has escaped unharmed from a horror smash that's injured
his parents, nine-year sister and a Brisbane couple.

Queensland police say the two-car accident happened just after 1pm (AEST) today on
a notorious stretch of the Cunningham Highway at Cunningham's Gap, about 100 kilometres
south-west of Brisbane.

A man and a woman in the second vehicle, both aged 40 and from the Brisbane suburb
of Sherwood, were also seriously injured in the accident.

Sergeant GRAHAM BROOM of Ipswich police says the toddler's 32-year-old mother has been
airlifted to hospital with serious neck and back injuries.
