One has become a dot.com millionaire

THE QUEEN is set to join Britain's growing band of dot.commillionaires - just four months after investing pounds 100,000 in aninternet company, it was reported last night.

It is believed her shares in getmapping.com will be worth pounds1.2m when the small firm, which is producing an aerial map of thewhole of the UK, floats next month. The company is expected to bevalued at pounds 40m, although the Queen is not expected to cash inher 3 per cent stake. Sir Michael Peat, the keeper of the privypurse, is said to have advised her on the investment.

Buckingham Palace went online in 1997 with the launch of its ownwebsite, and the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are said to havebeen using the internet for several years.

Getmapping.com refused to comment on any of its shareholders,although its website has already been dedicated to the Queen, withher permission. A spokeswoman at Buckingham Palace said details ofthe Queen's financial affairs were confidential.
