MISTER STRANGE TO GO UNPLUGGED AT BOOKSTORE.(PREVIEW)

Led by former East Wall bassist extraordinaire Chris Wyse, the Scotia-based headbangers Mister Strange made their recording debut back in 1990 with the EP, ``All This Time,'' and then followed up with the full-length cassette, ``Power Trip.''

Now, the Strange ones are back with a self-titled CD of five strong original tunes, proving that the third time is indeed the charm.

The EP the debut release from Lark Street Records, based (ironically enough) in Saratoga Springs serves as a perfect sampler of Mister Strange's dynamic, diversified sound.

Featuring vocalist Mark McClosky, guitarist Mark Visconti and drummer Eric Wiegert in addition to Wyse, the band comes roaring out of the blocks with the moody, raging rocker ``Hidden Wings'' before sliding into the slinky reggae of ``Johnny'' the muscular power ballad ``Mother Stop,'' the mid-tempo groove of ``Between the Earth and Sky'' and the full-force funk of ``Painted Pictures.''
