Fed: Home visits to improve indigenous health: Roxon
Federal Health Minister NICOLA ROXON says providing support for indigenous mothers
will help close the 17-year gap in life expectancy.
Ms ROXON's in Cairns where she's announced the north Queensland city .. along with
Alice Springs in the Northern Territory .. will be part of a coordinated network of nurses
in indigenous communities.
Nurses will make home visits starting during pregnancy and continuing through to a
child's second birthday.
Another eight sites covered by the program will be announced later in the year.
