China Post to Suspend emsylw.com Next Month

BEIJING, Jan 21, 2011 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- China Post, a state-owned logistics service provider in the country, announced yesterday that it was scheduled to suspend the operation of emsylw.com, its online logistics service platform, on February 1, 2011 as part of a business integration.

The platform, coming into service in January 2010, is engaged in the one-stop services such as birthday gift delivery and business gift delivery, with the help of EMS, an express unit of China Post.

Such a suspension, pointed out some market observers, may result from a smaller user base of the platform. The China Post platform is dwarfed by its peers in flexibility, although it has bigger advantages in delivery network and settlement.

Latest statistics from the China e-Business Research Center show that China's online retail market transaction value touched CNY 513.1 billion in the entire 2010 and is possible to top CNY 1 trillion in the next two years.
